Jack’s Family Restaurant
Challenge
Jack’s Family Restaurants came to us at a pivotal moment. The brand had Southern roots, menu credibility, and decades of recognition. But it needed to strengthen its value proposition, reverse declining traffic, connect with a new generation, and build deeper affinity in existing and new markets. The goal was bigger than a campaign. We wanted to help Jack’s become a true cult brand.
Jack’s story is a Southern story, and every good Southern story centers around food. Classic, craveable food made with care and served with pride. But for years, Jack’s had leaned into Southern imagery without fully defining what made its version of the South meaningful. The brand had focused on Southern tropes instead of a food story, creating a mirror nobody saw themselves in.
Approach
To build a new following, Jack’s needed to act like every restaurant was the original location, with every touchpoint deepening the customer’s connection to the brand. From social to packaging to the in-store experience, the work had to feel personal and familiar. The design system evolved in the same spirit, drawing from Jack’s existing equity and history to create a brand that felt fresh but familiar.
At the center was Uncle Jack, a character who made the brand’s voice instantly recognizable. He might remind you of an old football coach, a pastor, or a favorite uncle. Gregarious, working-class, and wise beyond his years, he was a straight-shooting old soul who talked to people like family.
