alabama state university:
alabama state was founded as lincoln normal school, a teachers college for african americans only, in 1867. located in montgomery, alabama, the university found itself at the center of the civil rights movement and for many, provided a clear path to success when few were available. the rich history of the school and undying loyalty of alumni were only slowing a steady decline for the schools enrollment, as well as, morale of both students and faculty. the school had lost its relevance to new generations of students who were unaware of the outstanding academic programs asu had to offer. to many students, it had become their grandparents college and needed a progressive and hip rebrand. alabama state had to become part of the considered set for all graduating high school students in alabama. we set our sights on connecting with prospective students through text-messaging, outdoor and online/microsite campaigns. since the work began, enrollment has increased from 2,800 to nearly 6,000 students. special thanks to all those who helped make this work so successful: Ian David-ACD, Joey Graddy-AD, Matt Lane Harris-AD, Shannon Broom-AD, Stacy Blackman-Interactive.
